Congratulations to UC Press author Kevan Harris, Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles, who has received the Middle Eastern Studies Association’s 2018 Nikki Keddie Book Award.
Announced at last night’s awards ceremony, Harris is being recognized for his book, A Social Revolution: Politics and the Welfare State in Iran, and for his outstanding scholarly work in the area of religion, revolution, and society. In addition to the Keddie award, Kevan Harris is also the recipient of the 2018 Middle East Political Economy Book Prize from the Political Economy Project. Celebrations will take place during the Arab Studies Institute reception at MESA this evening at 8:30pm.
